The Bad Astronomer himself! Dr. Plait is the man behind the Bad Astronomy blog, a multiple award winning blog on astronomy and skepticism that in 2009 was named as one of Time magazine’s best blogs. The host in 2011 of a three part documentary for the Discovery Channel called Phil Plait’s Bad Universe, Dr. Plait is the author of two books. His latest– Death From the Skies!– is a fascinating and eye-opening list of all the ways the universe could destroy us. Dr. Plait received his PhD from the University of Virgina in 1994 and worked on the Hubble Space Telescope. He served as the president of The James Randi Educational Foundation from 2008 until 2010. And– this is so cool– the dude has an asteroid named after him!
