Dr. Impey is a University Distinguished Professor at the University of Arizona. In his capacity as the Deputy Head of the Department of Astronomy and Academic Head he runs the largest undergraduate majors program in astronomy in the US, and the second largest PhD program. A former Vice President of the American Astronomical Society, his research interests include observational cosmology, gravitational lensing, and the evolution and structure of galaxies. The author previously of How it Ends: From You to the Universe and The Living Cosmos: Our Search for Life in the Cosmos, his new book is titled How it Began: A Time-Traveler’s Guide to the Universe. Upon reading the book we’re looking forward to Dr. Impey as our guide through the universe, this time in person!
